University Library offers 'Digitizing Old Formats' multimedia workshops
11:36 a.m., Sept. 8, 2015--The University of Delaware Library will present three workshops on digitizing old formats during the fall semester: “Digitizing Old Formats: Photos,” “Digitizing Old Formats: Audio” and “Digitizing Old Formats: Video.”
Each workshop will teach participants how to transfer treasured memories on old formats into digital formats that may be shared, and will provide an overview of equipment and services available at the Student Multimedia Design Center, which is located on the lower level of the Morris Library.

“Digitizing Old Formats: Photos” will demonstrate techniques for scanning 35mm photographic film, prints and slides into digital files that may be shared.
The workshop will be offered on Tuesday, Sept. 22, from 2-4 p.m., in Room B of the Student Multimedia Design Center. Presenter will be John Stevenson, associate librarian, Student Multimedia Collections and Services Department.
“Digitizing Old Formats: Audio” will cover transferring formats such as vinyl records and audio cassettes to digital formats such as audio CDs and MP3 files and will be offered on Tuesday, Sept. 29, from 2-4 p.m. in Room B of the Student Multimedia Design Center. Stevenson will be the presenter.
“Digitizing Old Formats: Video” will cover the steps necessary to convert participants' media, including VHS and Hi-8 tapes to online video file formats and DVD.
The workshop will be offered on Tuesday, Oct. 6, from 2-4 p.m., in Room B of the Student Multimedia Design Center. Stevenson will be the presenter.
These workshops are available at no charge and are open to University of Delaware faculty, staff and students. Seating is limited and registration is required. Online registration is available.
