UD alumni plan for spirit-filled 2015 Homecoming celebration

11:53 a.m., Oct. 19, 2015--Plans are underway for a spirit-filled weekend of alumni activities during the annual University of Delaware Homecoming celebration in early November.

Activities include the Homecoming football game against Albany on Saturday, Nov. 7, a Friday night Blue Hens on Main event, affinity reunions and a performance by the Juilliard String Quartet.

As it neared time for the processional to open the University of Delaware Commencement ceremonies, graduating students and faculty members shared their feelings about what the event means to them.

Doctoral hooding

It was a day of triumph, cheers and collective relief as more than 160 students from 21 nations participated in the University of Delaware's Doctoral Hooding Convocation held Friday morning on The Green.

Blue Hens on Main

The Blue Hens on Main event will be held from 8-10 p.m., Friday, Nov. 6, in the Multipurpose Rooms of the Trabant University Center. Cost is $16.

Meet up with old Blue Hen friends — and new ones, too — in one central location before enjoying Main Street.

Participants can enjoy heavy hors d'oeuvres, two drink tickets, music and photos.

All attendees will also receive a snuggly UD scarf. Register now.

Richard (Dick) Wilson Homecoming Step Show

On Friday, Nov. 6, at 7 p.m. at Mitchell Hall, join fellow Blue Hens for this fun, entertaining and educational step show, focused on showcasing the University’s culturally-based fraternities and sororities (NPHC, NALFO and NAPA). The audience will have the opportunity to listen and dance to a variety of music, while learning about different cultures. The event is a competition where members will reveal the traditions and origins of stepping that is unique to their organization.

Advance tickets are $5 for students and staff; $10 for the general public (on sale until 3 p.m., Friday, Nov. 6. Tickets at the door are $7 for students and staff; $12 for general public. All tickets must be purchased at a UD box office. For more information, email mgc-info@udel.edu.

Master Players Concert Series presents Juilliard String Quartet

The UD Master Players Concert Series event featuring the Juilliard String Quartet scheduled Saturday, Nov. 7, has sold out.
