Five UD students are currently studying abroad in Paris. None of them were in France on Nov. 13, and all have been in contact with their families.

This semester there are 14 degree-seeking students and five visiting scholars from France on campus, and all have been contacted by Ravi Ammigan, director of the Office for International Students and Scholars (OISS).

"In light of yesterday's events in Paris, our sincere condolences go out to all those whose family and friends have been affected by this tragedy. Our thoughts and prayers are with them during this difficult time," Ammigan said.

OISS staff members are available to help these international scholars if they need any help or support in the days or weeks to come.

Scott Stevens, director of UD's English Language Institute, offered the services of orientation coordinators and counselors, Tim Kim and Meghan Gladle, to support any ELI student with concerns. “Our hearts break with French and Francophone citizens everywhere who mourn this tragedy and are united with them in prayers for healing and comfort. Today we are all Parisians,” he said.

Students who need support and assistance may contact UD's Center for Counseling and Student Development at 302-831-2141; a psychologist is on call during the weekend for students in crisis. In addition, staff members in the Office of the Dean of Students also are available to meet with any student who wishes to talk. Call 302-831-8939 to schedule an appointment or stop by 101Hullihen Hall during regular business hours.
