2:18 p.m., May 5, 2016--The University of Delaware is launching a new certificate program focusing on entry-level information technology infrastructure certification in IT service management. The ITIL® Foundation Certificate in IT Service Management will be held June 20-22 at UD’s Virden Center in Lewes.

ITIL (originally an acronym for Information Technology Infrastructure Library) is a set of best practices and guidelines for managing, planning and implementing IT services in a business or organization. ITIL methodology helps businesses align their IT services with organizational needs, plan for transitions, develop service strategies and continually improve their services and processes.

“The ITIL Foundation program gives IT practitioners the tools they need to plan, manage and run their support organization better than they are today,” said Scott Fabel, senior corporate training consultant and program instructor. “ITIL's adopt and adapt approach allows you to take what works and leave what doesn't.”

With more than 20 years’ experience working with Fortune 1000 companies on service desk implementations, Microsoft technologies, IT service management, business analysis and project management, Fabel is a faculty fellow and longtime program director at UD’s Professional and Continuing Studies.

Added Fabel, “The ITIL Foundation program is for anyone who is interested in keeping up to date with what's happening in the IT service management industry, whether to learn industry best practices, to improve existing processes, to establish new ones or to earn the ITIL credential.”

This three-day intensive boot-camp style program concludes with in-class administration of the ITIL Foundation Certificate exam, with participants who successfully pass the exam earning the ITIL Foundation Certificate. ITIL Foundation is the entry level certification for all other ITIL certifications.

The ITIL Foundation program is offered by UD Professional and Continuing Studies in partnership with CAI (Computer Aid Inc.).

UD students and alumni receive a 15 percent discount when enrolling in this program. Other discounts are available, such as an earlybird discount through May 13.
