Osher Lifelong Learning Institute sets open house at Arsht Hall in Wilmington

1:11 p.m., July 28, 2015--The community is invited to attend an open house for the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at the University of Delaware from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 5, at Arsht Hall in Wilmington.

Those who attend will have an opportunity to experience one of the country’s most successful adult learning programs. The open house will feature sample classes, tours and refreshments along with musical entertainment.

June 5: Blue Hen 5K

University of Delaware graduates planning to attend Alumni Weekend are encouraged to register for the annual Blue Hen 5K walk and run, which will be held Sunday morning, June 5.

June 6-9: Food and culture series

The 20th annual June Lecture Series at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at UD in Wilmington will be held June 6-9. Titled 'June a la Carte,' this year's program focuses on great political documents, feminism, world politics and a Newark cuisine sampler.

More than 2,600 people over the age of 50 attend UD's Osher Lifelong Learning Institute in Wilmington, where members teach and take classes together with no tests, grades or papers, and participate in abundant opportunities for socializing and travel. Members come from different educational backgrounds and all walks of life, attending from Pennsylvania, Delaware, New Jersey and Maryland.

Members can get involved in the arts, music, humanities, genealogy, nine different languages, sciences, yoga and more when selecting from more than 280 courses and activities. This fall features 70 new courses including Wooden Boat Building I–Kayak, Nostalgia of Old Time Radio and swimming classes in cooperation with the Fraim Center for Active Adults in Wilmington. 

Membership offers additional benefits including access to the University of Delaware Library, fitness center and credit course audit privileges. The fall catalog is currently online

In-person registration for the fall semester will be held Aug. 4-7 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Arsht Hall on the University’s Wilmington campus, 2700 Pennsylvania Ave. Registrations are also accepted by mail.  Online registrations are accepted July 28-Aug. 7. 

The fall semester will begin Tuesday, Sept. 8, continuing through Friday, Dec. 11.

The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at the University of Delaware in Wilmington is an academic cooperative for people age 50 and over. The University also offers Osher Lifelong Learning programs in Dover and Lewes.
