Career-oriented UD certificate overview to be held in Wilmington

12:30 p.m., Jan. 6, 2016--A free information session for spring professional development certificates offered by the University of Delaware’s Division of Professional and Continuing Studies (PCS) will be held at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 21, at the Doubletree Hotel, 700 N. King St., Wilmington.

A pre-session opportunity to network with instructors and ask questions will begin at 5:45 p.m. Certificates to be featured at the information session include:

June 5: Blue Hen 5K

University of Delaware graduates planning to attend Alumni Weekend are encouraged to register for the annual Blue Hen 5K walk and run, which will be held Sunday morning, June 5.

June 6-9: Food and culture series

The 20th annual June Lecture Series at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at UD in Wilmington will be held June 6-9. Titled 'June a la Carte,' this year's program focuses on great political documents, feminism, world politics and a Newark cuisine sampler.

The information session is an ideal place for potential students to find out if a certificate would meet their needs, to meet faculty and PCS staff, and have the opportunity to ask questions about the programs. Graduates from several programs will be on hand, and light refreshments will be served.

Attendees can enter a raffle to win 50 percent off the cost of a certificate program. Anyone who registers and pays in full for a certificate program at or before the information session will receive a 10 percent discount.

Classes for most programs meet at the UD Downtown Center at 8th and King Streets in Wilmington, and are scheduled to suit working professionals. Some classes include virtual online class meetings to supplement the classroom sessions. Time required to complete these programs ranges from three months to just under a year.
