Feb. 10: Ash Wednesday observances
Ash Wednesday observances to be held on The Green, St. Thomas Oratory
8:27 a.m., Feb. 8, 2016--On Feb. 10, leaders from many of the Christian student organizations on the University of Delaware campus will join together for an ecumenical observance of Ash Wednesday on The Green, and the Catholic Campus Ministry at St. Thomas More Oratory will hold services throughout the day at the Catholic Chapel.
As Christians enter the season of Lent leading up to Easter, many observe the ritual of Ash Wednesday, receiving ashes upon their foreheads as a symbol of humility and penitence.
