10 from UD community honored on Delaware Today's list of Women in Business 2015
8:45 a.m., Dec. 18, 2015--Ten women from the University of Delaware community were honored as innovators, achievers and leaders in Delaware Today magazine’s list of Women in Business 2015.
UD Acting President Nancy Targett was among these honorees, as Delaware Today celebrated her work in keeping UD stable and thriving after the departure of UD president emeritus Patrick T. Harker.

Targett told Delaware Today that her current goal is “to maintain the momentum of our University initiatives and to prepare the University community to welcome and work effectively with the next president.”
Kathleen Matt, dean of UD’s College of Health Sciences, was also included in the Delaware Today list, which noted Matt’s work overseeing education, research and clinical programs while also serving as executive director of the Delaware Health Sciences Alliance.
Matt is known for cultivating biomedical partnerships across Delaware institutions like UD, Christiana Care Health System and Nemours/A.I. duPont Hospital for Children.
Honoree Sheryl Kline, chair of UD’s Department of Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Management (HRIM), was lauded for her award-winning teaching and her ability to balance educating and inspiring students with preforming research, guiding faculty and managing the department.
“I have the opportunity to mentor many students,” Kline said. “My personal and professional satisfaction comes from seeing them become successful in their careers and life.”
Seven UD alumna were also among the honorees, including:
- Erin Cooper Barrett, BE01, 07M, owner and events coordinator, Outlook Events, LLC;
- Vincenza Carrieri-Russo, AS13, co-owner, Vincenza and Margherita Italian-American Bistro;
- Karen Fletcher, EG81, 82M, vice president of engineering, facilities services and real estate and chief engineer, DuPont;
- Nola Doubét Hendry, AS66, chief operating officer, Carl Doubét Jr. Jewelers;
- Jacqueline D. Jenkins, EHD06EdD, chief strategy adviser, city of Wilmington;
- Rashmi Rangan, AS93M, executive director, Delaware Community Reinvestment Action Council; and
- Amy Wikane Stengel, AS96, group vice president and managing director of institutional administrative services, Wilmington Trust.
