Mechanical Hall to host outdoor Earth Day celebration with music, speakers
8:14 a.m., April 18, 2016--The University Museums at the University of Delaware will host an Earth Day event titled “Music, Liberation and the Environment: It’s a Global Thing” from 4-7 p.m., Friday, April 22, at the Mechanical Hall Gallery.
The event will be held outside Mechanical Hall, weather permitting. In case of inclement weather, it will be held inside the art gallery.

June 6-9: Food and culture series
An environmental justice and sustainability panel discussion will be held from 4-5 p.m. Panelists include Michelle Bennett, UD sustainability manager; Elaine Rosa Salo, associate professor of political science and international relations; and Jeffrey Richardson, interim director of the Master of Arts in Liberal Studies program and instructor of black American studies.
That will be followed by musical and spoken word performances from 5-7 p.m. Performers include Frank Waln, internationally recognized Sicangu-Lakota hip hop artist-in-residence; Egalitarian, an Afro-reggae performer; Richard Raw, a soul, spoken word, funk and hip hop artist from Wilmington; and Daniel Farmer, an environmental studies major and spoken word artist.
The free public event is sponsored by Global Arts, the Department of Black American Studies, University Museums and the Center for Black Culture, and is made possible through the support of the Office of the Provost and the English Language Institute (ELI).
