Events Stories

June 6-9: Food and culture series

The 20th annual June Lecture Series at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at UD in Wilmington will be held June 6-9. Titled 'June a la Carte,' this year's program focuses on great political documents, feminism, world politics and a Newark cuisine sampler.

The University of Delaware Library was the first research library in the highly exclusive by-invitation-only Association of Research Libraries to implement the cloud-based DELCAT Discovery system, which is based on “WorldShare Management Services” and was developed in partnership with OCLC (the Online Computer Library Center) based in Dublin, Ohio. OCLC is the largest library cooperative in the world.

A library user can limit searches to only those items physically held by the University of Delaware Library, or a search can be done of the entire OCLC WorldCat database that encompasses more than 320 million titles in over 72,000 libraries from more than 170 countries throughout the world.

The new cloud-based DELCAT Discovery system is a cooperative library management system for acquisitions, circulation, discovery, license management, metadata management and workflow improvements.

An online version of the invitation to the DELCAT Discovery opening on Tuesday, September 30, 2014, is available at www2.lib.udel.edu/new/DELCAT Discovery.pdf. A demonstration of DELCAT Discovery will be shown. Refreshments will follow the program. Walk-ins are welcome, although acceptances are helpful.
