Events Stories
June 5: Blue Hen 5K
June 6-9: Food and culture series
The first talk will focus on “Teaching critical thinking” from 4-4:45 p.m. in 315 ISE Lab.
Critical thinking is a UD General Education Goal for all undergraduate students and a topic that is essential for an educated citizenry. In this conversation, attendees will be able to share their ideas and ask questions about specific ways that they can teach and assess critical thinking in their courses or programs.
CTAL staff Kathy Pusecker and Kevin Guidry will contribute their teaching and assessment experience to this conversation. They recently completed training on the Critical thinking Assessment Test, an NSF-funded instrument that helps faculty understand how well their students are learning critical thinking skills. In addition, Pusecker, who has led UD’s assessment of general education goals for several years, will add her experience to the discussion.
A second conversation in this series, “Making sense of student evaluations of teaching,” is scheduled from 4-4:45 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 15, also in 315 ISE Lab. This conversation will focus on concrete ways that faculty can use student evaluations of teaching to improve their courses.
The third conversation in the series is scheduled from 4-4:45 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 19, in 315 ISE Lab. Titled “Teaching international students,” this conversation will allow attendees to address benefits and challenges presented by international students at UD.
No registration is required for these events.
