Strawberry was an all-star outfielder who helped lead both the New York Mets and the New York Yankees to World Series championships in the 1980s and 1990s. He was the National League rookie of the year in 1983.
However, Strawberry also battled a number of personal problems, including substance abuse.
Now a pastor, and he and his wife Tracy lead Strawberry Ministries in Orlando, Florida, have opened the Darryl Strawberry Recovery Center, and are the authors of a new book, The Imperfect Marriage: Help for Those Who Think It’s Over.
