Catholic theologian George Weigel to speak on 'The Mind of Pope Francis'
8:44 a.m., Nov. 5, 2014--Catholic theologian and author George Weigel will present a free public lecture titled “The Mind of Pope Francis” at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 18, in the University of Delaware’s Clayton Hall.
Weigel, the William E. Simon Chair in Catholic Studies and Distinguished Senior Fellow at the Ethics and Public Policy Center in Washington, D.C., will explore the life and thought of the “pope from the end of the Earth” who has caught the world’s attention.

He will consider the message of Pope Francis and whether that has been misunderstood, or ignored, and will offer thoughts on how the pontificate will unfold.
Weigel is the author of some 20 books and his essays, op-ed columns, and reviews appear regularly in major opinion journals and newspapers across the United States.
A frequent guest on television and radio, he is also Vatican analyst for NBC News. His weekly column “The Catholic Difference” is syndicated to 60 newspapers.
The lecture is sponsored by the Society of Catholic Scholars of Delaware, the St. Thomas More Society of Delaware, and Catholic Campus Ministry at UD.
