Connecting parents with students
New childcare resource now available for UD community
10:46 a.m., May 27, 2015--Parents in the University of Delaware community who are seeking students to provide full- or part-time childcare now have a new resource, whether they need assistance for the summer, during the school year, in an emergency and/or caring for a sick child.
A working group of faculty and staff from the Faculty Senate Committee on Diversity, the Department of Human Development and Family Studies (HDFS) and the Women's Caucus have developed a practical solution to this problem.

Under this new system, students in HDFS will post their availability to offer paid childcare to UD faculty, staff and student parents using UD Classifieds.
Since UD Classifieds is limited to the UD community, it provides an ideal venue to connect well-trained and willing UD students with UD parents seeking their services.
Students have already begun posting their availability under the “Jobs” category on the UD Classifieds site and have been instructed to include the keyword “childcare” in their ads to enable quick searching. A category designated "childcare" is expected to added in the near future to make searching even easier.
Those using this service should remember that all arrangements are made directly between the students and the parents, just like most babysitting situations; UD bears no liability.
Any questions about this childcare resource should be directed to Emily Davis at edavis@udel.edu.
