Acclaimed editor to discuss 'Salvaged Pages: Young Writers' Diaries of the Holocaust'

10:12 a.m., March 9, 2015--Alexandra Zapruder, the award-winning editor of Salvaged Pages: Young Writers’ Diaries of the Holocaust, will speak from 7-8 p.m., Wednesday, April 22, in 4 Kirkbride Hall on the University of Delaware campus in Newark.

Published by Yale University Press in 2002, Salvaged Papers is a remarkable anthology that includes 14 diaries written by young people aged 12 to 22 throughout Europe between 1939 and 1945.

University of Delaware graduates planning to attend Alumni Weekend are encouraged to register for the annual Blue Hen 5K walk and run, which will be held Sunday morning, June 5.

June 6-9: Food and culture series

The 20th annual June Lecture Series at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at UD in Wilmington will be held June 6-9. Titled 'June a la Carte,' this year's program focuses on great political documents, feminism, world politics and a Newark cuisine sampler.

It was the winner of the Jewish Book Council’s 2001-02 National Jewish Book Award in the Holocaust category.

Zapruder will discuss her journey over the decade she spent researching the diaries and tracking down the fates of their authors.

The presentation is sponsored by the Jewish Studies Program, housed in the Frank and Yetta Chaiken Center for Jewish Studies.
