PolicyMap includes both publicly-available and proprietary data. It provides access to more than 15,000 indicators related to demographics, real estate, incomes and spending, housing affordability, lending, energy, quality of life, economy, education, health, jobs and crime.
The data is available across a wide range of geographies including address, block groups, census tract, zip code, county, city, state, metropolitan statistical areas (MSA), school districts, Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) neighborhoods and political boundaries.
The detailed Data Directory includes sources, years of data available and geographic coverage.
PolicyMap includes useful mapping tools including the “3-Layers Map” used to find places that match two or three criteria of data on a single map and “Data Loader” used to upload a spreadsheet of data to make the location points on a map.
For more information about PolicyMap, a brief overview is available along with many guides and video tutorials.
Additional digital mapping resources may be found on the Digital Mapping (GIS) Research Guide created by the University of Delaware Library.
