Delaware Will Shine working groups provide new concept papers for review
8:52 a.m., Feb. 3, 2015--A number of new concept papers are now available for the University of Delaware community to review on the Delaware Will Shine website.
The Models for the New American Research University Working Group has issued more than 20 reports and concept papers across its four sub-groups, which have been examining the University’s academic organization, curriculum and delivery, infrastructure and resource allocations.

This working group has been exploring topics ranging from graduate and interdisciplinary education, to 21st-century faculty, diversity, workplace climate and more. To further synthesize their ideas, the working group met in a vision conference on campus on Feb. 2 and expects to post four additional, consolidated papers representing their work to the Delaware Will Shine website in the near future.
Additionally, the Sustaining and Accelerating the Advance Working Group has completed the Path to Prominence Progress Report, which provides a detailed analysis of data gathered from a survey and focus groups of key stakeholders about the University’s Path to Prominence strategic plan launched in 2007. The report sheds light on those aspects of the Path to Prominence strategic plan that stakeholders believe have been accomplished, which aspects of the plan should be abandoned, and which aspects should be prioritized.
A team of graduate students in UD’s MBA program made significant contibutions to the report. An article on their work will appear on UDaily in the near future.
“Delaware Will Shine,” the name of UD’s new strategic planning initiative, hails from the University’s Fight Song. More than 100 faculty, staff and students have been serving on the planning team, which includes three working groups and an executive committee.
Since the planning effort launched last spring, meetings have been held with more than 50 constituent groups across the University and beyond to garner input into the vision of the UD of the future. A new draft strategic plan will be delivered to President Patrick Harker and Provost Domenico Grasso by March 31. Shortly thereafter, the draft plan will be shared with the community for review and feedback.
