University Student Centers winter programming announced

9:26 a.m., Dec. 2, 2014--The University Student Centers will host a variety of events throughout the month of January to keep winter Blue Hens warm and entertained throughout the academic session.

From graduates, faculty

As it neared time for the processional to open the University of Delaware Commencement ceremonies, graduating students and faculty members shared their feelings about what the event means to them.

Doctoral hooding

It was a day of triumph, cheers and collective relief as more than 160 students from 21 nations participated in the University of Delaware's Doctoral Hooding Convocation held Friday morning on The Green.

Monday and Thursday Zumba: Jan. 5, 8, 12, 15, 19, 22, 26 and 29, and Feb. 2 and 5, at 5:30 p.m. in the Perkins Student Center Ewing Room, with the Zumba Club.

Tuesday Quizzo: Jan. 6, 13, 20 and 27, and Feb. 3, at 7 p.m. in the Perkins West Lounge. Weekly Quizzo sessions, hosted by University Student Centers staff, will be themed around games such as board games, video games, game shows and more. As always, there will be complimentary snacks and prizes to be won.

Hot Chocolate Festival: Jan. 15, from 1-5 p.m., in the Trabant University Center Food Court. A sampling of different cocoas and snacks will be available throughout every table and kiosk in the concourse.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Jan. 16, at 7 p.m., in Perkins’ Bacchus Theater, there will be a free showing of the film Guardians of the Galaxy with free popcorn and refreshments. The movie will be shown outdoor-style, and participants are welcome to bring blankets or floor cushions.

Ski and Ride Camelback: Jan. 24, at 9 a.m., buses will depart Trabant University Center for a day trip to Camelback Mountain Resort. Student tickets are $40 for transportation and an all-day lift ticket, and are available online.

Football Watch Party: Feb. 1, at 6 p.m., in the Perkins West Lounge, students can enjoy the biggest game of the year, the Super Bowl, with multiple flat-screen televisions, comfortable lounge furniture and free snacks.
