Greek community speaks out against gender-based violence
9:30 a.m., Dec. 4, 2014--As campus-wide efforts continue to maintain an environment in which respect and personal safety are valued by all, the University of Delaware’s Greek community has released a statement detailing its stance on gender-based violence.
The statement, released last week by the student newspaper The Review, is printed here in its entirety:

“Sexual misconduct has no place in our community. Today, the Greek letter organizations of the University of Delaware are proud to stand unified against it.
Our campus is currently having an important and timely discussion about sexual assault and sexual harassment. Sexual misconduct directly counters the values upon which our many organizations are founded, and has no place in our Greek community or on our campus.
Our community’s rejection of sexual misconduct is based on our core beliefs as Greek letter organizations. While we are a community composed of diverse individuals with varying interests and campus involvements, we stand in agreement that sexual misconduct must be given no quarter at the University of Delaware.
The Greek community is proud to support survivors of sexual assault and sexual harassment, and strives to advocate for resources for the entire campus. We look forward to contributing to the important campus-wide conversation and helping eradicate these disturbing and unacceptable behaviors from our community.”
