Hens encouraged to wear Delaware blue and gold for College Colors Day

8:04 a.m., Aug. 25, 2014--Blue Hens around the world are encouraged to wear University of Delaware blue and gold apparel to celebrate the 10th annual College Colors Day on Friday, Aug. 29.

Blue and gold spirit wear is available from the University of Delaware Barnes and Noble Bookstore, which will offer $1 venti iced coffee or iced tea to those who wear UD gear into the store on Thursday, Aug. 28, or Friday, Aug. 29, while supplies last.

University of Delaware graduates planning to attend Alumni Weekend are encouraged to register for the annual Blue Hen 5K walk and run, which will be held Sunday morning, June 5.

June 6-9: Food and culture series

The 20th annual June Lecture Series at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at UD in Wilmington will be held June 6-9. Titled 'June a la Carte,' this year's program focuses on great political documents, feminism, world politics and a Newark cuisine sampler.

The national College Colors Day celebration is presented by the Collegiate Licensing Company (CLC) to kick off the fall sports season.

The annual celebration is dedicated to promoting the traditions and spirit that embody the college experience by encouraging fans across America to wear their favorite college or university apparel.

The UD football team will open its season at noon, Saturday, Aug. 30, at the University of Pittsburgh. The Hens will return to Delaware Stadium for games against Delaware State University at 6 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 6, and Colgate University at 6 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 13.
