2:28 p.m., April 20, 2015--The University of Delaware community is invited to taste wines from around the world without leaving Newark at the Wine Education Seminar Series.

The Department of Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Management (HRIM) in UD’s Alfred Lerner College of Business and Economics will host the seminars in the Wine Education Classroom at the HRIM department’s student-run restaurant, Vita Nova, in partnership with Southern Wine and Spirits.

Campus Stories

From graduates, faculty

As it neared time for the processional to open the University of Delaware Commencement ceremonies, graduating students and faculty members shared their feelings about what the event means to them.

Doctoral hooding

It was a day of triumph, cheers and collective relief as more than 160 students from 21 nations participated in the University of Delaware's Doctoral Hooding Convocation held Friday morning on The Green.

Dean Bruce Weber of the Lerner College called the Wine Education Seminar Series “part of the HRIM department’s initiative to prepare future leaders in the hospitality industry.”

Each seminar will feature wines from a distinct area of the globe, including:

  • Monday, April 27 – European wines
  • Monday, May 11 – Wines from North America, including California, Washington, Oregon, New York and Canada
  • Monday, May 18 – Wines from the New World, including Australia, New Zealand and South America

Leading the seminars in exploring the world of wine education will be Paul Rizzo and Michelle Souza of Southern Wine and Spirits, both of whom are wine industry experts and UD alumni.
