Research Stories

Chronic wounds

UD's Millicent Sullivan and Kristi Kiick have received a $1.4 million grant from the National Institutes of Health for research that could provide a new approach to the treatment of chronic wounds.

Prof. Heck's legacy

The American Chemical Society is highlighting the legacy of the late Nobel laureate Richard Heck, the Willis F. Harrington Professor Emeritus of Chemistry at the University of Delaware with a digital tribute on its publications website.

Bryan Townsend, who earned the first of his three UD degrees in 2003, will give the alumni talk at 10.30 a.m.

While at UD, Townsend, who was in the Honors Program, pursued bachelor’s and master’s degrees in economics, and a bachelor’s degree in philosophy and biology.

He also won the prestigious Truman Scholarship, awarded nationally to students with demonstrated leadership potential and a commitment to public service.

Now the senator for Delaware’s 11th District, Townsend went on from UD to complete a graduate degree in Chinese at Cambridge University and a law degree from Yale.

The event is free and open to all.
