TEXT SIZE

1:06 p.m., Feb. 24, 2014--The University of Delaware Library will present the workshop “Research Refresher for Graduate Students” on Wednesday, March 5.

The workshop will provide graduate students with an overview of the services and resources available for their use at the University Library.

Research Stories

Celebrating research

More than 170 students put their research up for public scrutiny Friday in the University of Delaware's first Celebration of Undergraduate Engaged Scholarship.

Fostering reading fundamentals

In order to help children read more complex texts, Sharon Walpole, professor in the University of Delaware School of Education and her colleague Mike McKenna of the University of Virginia have developed Bookworms, a free, open-access, elementary English Language Arts (ELA) curriculum with more than 1,100 lesson plans.

Attendees will learn how to use the library catalog and databases to find books, articles and more. Tools used to manage citations and create bibliographies will be discussed. Attendees will also learn about resources available for creating and editing video and audio files.

Information will be shared about reserving individual and collaborative work spaces such as graduate study carrels, group study rooms and recording studios.

Library services such as interlibrary loan, Article DELivery and reciprocal borrowing programs will be explained. Methods to request further research assistance will be discussed.

“Research Refresher for Graduate Students” will be offered from 5-6:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 5, in the Library Instruction Room (116A) on the first floor of the Morris Library.

Presenters will be Dianna McKellar, librarian, and Thomas Melvin, librarian, both of the Reference and Instructional Services Department.

This workshop is available at no charge and open to University of Delaware graduate students. Seating is limited and registration is required. Online registration is available at this website
