FYI Stories

Afro-Latina histories

The University of Delaware Library has announced the opening of a new digital collection, the Delaware Afro-Latina oral histories collection.

Applying biosafety standards

September has been declared National Biosafety Stewardship Month by the National Institutes of Health, and UD Environmental Health and Safety and the University Biosafety Committee are supporting the awareness campaign.

Participants will spend the majority of their time writing; however, the workshop will also include brief discussions on topics of common interest to dissertation students, such as motivation, goal setting, time management, and the writing habits of successful and prolific academic writers.

Students accepted to the program will commit to attending from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, for two consecutive weeks.

Writing Program faculty will provide time, space, and professional tutorial support to help students progress on their projects. Lunch will also be provided.

To apply, participants must write a brief proposal (no more than 300 words) explaining what they will accomplish during the workshop. In addition, faculty advisers must nominate their students for this workshop, and a brief e-mail will suffice. Applicants will be chosen based upon time to degree completion, the importance of the workshop at this stage of the project, and broad disciplinary representation within the College of Arts and Sciences.

Applications are due May 16 and should be emailed to Michael McCamley at boot-camp@win.udel.edu

The application form is available at this website. Complete all of the fields, save the document using last and first names (example: McCamleyMichael.docx), and send it as an email attachment to boot-camp@win.udel.edu.
