Recycling competition
RecycleMania now under way on campus
10:21 a.m., Feb. 18, 2013--RecycleMania is currently in full swing at the University of Delaware.
This eight-week friendly competition among colleges and universities is designed to encourage waste reduction and increase recycling throughout campus communities. This year’s competition began Feb. 3 and continues through March 30.

Dining Services is encouraging staff and students to take the extra step and recycle heavily during this time. In 2012, the UD RecycleMania program contributed 314,369 pounds to be recycled. This year’s goal is 450,000 pounds.
"We are excited about what the UD community will do to reach new heights in this year’s competition," said Ilex Pounders, marketing manager for Dining Services.
The following items are just a few of the many that can be recycled:
• catalogs and magazines,
• junk mail and office paper,
• newspaper and phonebooks,
• cardboard,
• plastic bottles (soda, water, juice, laundry detergent),
• aluminum cans,
• glass bottles and jars and
• disposable dinnerware and napkins,
To participate, place any recyclable item in any of the one-source recycling containers located throughout the campus.
