University Library offers workshops on funding April 25, May 2

8:49 a.m., March 2, 2012--The University of Delaware Library will present two workshops on research funding during the spring semester.

The workshop "Research Funding Online" will be held April 25 and "Grants for Nonprofit Agencies" will be held May 2. Both workshops are co-sponsored by the UD Research Office.

Two graduate students, Meghan Ramick and John Guers, have won $5,000 research grants from the American College of Sports Medicine Foundation to support their doctoral studies.

Graduate Student Research Forum

The UD Graduate Student Research Forum on April 21 will include over 130 presentations, highlighting such topics as new gene sequencing techniques to improve treatment of pediatric cancers, to an evaluation of the impact of public trial gardens on the horticulture industry.

“Research Funding Online” will focus on two library databases, Foundation Directory Online and COS Pivot, which faculty, staff and graduate students can use to identify potential funding resources, such as grants from private foundations, corporations and public charities. 

The workshop will cover strategies for searching the databases, procedures for using alerting services and locating additional grant information on the Internet.

It will meet from 10-11:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 25, in the Library Instruction Room (116A) on the first floor of the Morris Library. Presenter will be Carol Rudisell, librarian, Reference Department.

The workshop will meet from 10-11 a.m., Wednesday, May 2, in the Class of 1941 Lecture Room on the first floor of the Morris Library. Rudisell will be the presenter.

The workshops are available at no charge and are open to UD faculty, staff and students, as well as members of nonprofit groups. Seating is limited. Registration is required and can be completed online.

Members of nonprofit groups can call 302-831-2432 to register for the "Grants for Nonprofit Agencies" workshop.
