Deltronica announces live electronic music, jam band performances

8:07 a.m., March 23, 2012--Deltronica, an electronic music club at the University of Delaware, has announced that a free Bass Campus music festival will be held from noon to 10 p.m., Saturday, April 14, on the Independence turf.

The event will consist of live electronic music and jam band performances from local, regional, and national artists.

June 5: Blue Hen 5K

University of Delaware graduates planning to attend Alumni Weekend are encouraged to register for the annual Blue Hen 5K walk and run, which will be held Sunday morning, June 5.

June 6-9: Food and culture series

The 20th annual June Lecture Series at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at UD in Wilmington will be held June 6-9. Titled 'June a la Carte,' this year's program focuses on great political documents, feminism, world politics and a Newark cuisine sampler.

The event will have other activities including a silent disco, inflatable water slide, art exhibits, face painting, tie dying, and morning and evening yoga sessions.

The purpose of Bass Campus is to provide a one of a kind music experience and a platform for fun, self-expression and networking at the University. 

Joe Vela and A.J. DiBiase, members of the Newark-based band Tweed, founded Deltronica in March 2011 and will be performing on the Bass Campus main stage along with BioDiesel, Sonic Spank, D.V.S., Dirty Paris, Grimace Federation, Space Jesus, Racket Boys, and Common Room. There will also be a silent disco with 10 of the best local DJs.

Other registered student organizations (RSOs) will be involved in the event, and they include Cardio Dance Hoop Club, Blue Hen Marketing Club, Take the Mic, NORML at UD, and the Resident Student Association (RSA). 

Raffles and commemorative items will be sold to raise money for the event.

The mission of Deltronica is to gather a passionate electronic music audience to foster creative music growth, contribute to a developing music scene, and bring awareness to those interested in all subgenres of electronic music. 

Deltronica sponsors live performances around campus, organizes concert excursions, and invests in musical equipment for member usage.

Deltronica has had success in past concert events on campus. Last year, Jesse Miller of Lotus performed in the University’s Ewing Room to promote his solo project, Beard-o-Bees, and DJ group Sub Swara along with Mindexilir put on a show in the Rodney Room.
