Through July 31: American Military Pocket Atlas
University of Delaware Library exhibits Revolutionary War era atlas
10:46 a.m., July 11, 2011--The University of Delaware Library announces the opening of a small exhibition in the Information Area on the first floor of the Morris Library of the American Military Pocket Atlas, which will be on display through Sunday, July 31.
The American Military Pocket Atlas was printed at the onset of the American Revolution to provide British officers with an accurate and portable atlas of all likely theaters of operation in the colonies. Officers would have carried the map into combat either in their pocket or in a holster.

June 5: Blue Hen 5K
June 6-9: Food and culture series
As originally issued, the maps would fold in and out of the bound volume, so as to allow for ease of transport; conservation treatment has since required that they be removed from the volume.
The exhibition is curated by Alexander C. Johnston, assistant librarian, with exhibition preparation by Anita Wellner, library assistant, and design and installation of the physical and virtual exhibition by Laurie Rizzo, assistant librarian, all of the Special Collections Department.
