Lecture series focuses on research on race, ethnicity, culture

2:51 p.m., Feb. 21, 2012--The University of Delaware will offer a Wednesday afternoon lecture series titled "Research on Race, Ethnicity and Culture" through May 9.

The series will meet from 12:20-1:10 p.m. in 116 Gore Hall. It is open to the general public and also can be taken as a one-credit pass/fail course (WOMS/BAMS 298.010).

Doctoral hooding

It was a day of triumph, cheers and collective relief as more than 160 students from 21 nations participated in the University of Delaware's Doctoral Hooding Convocation held Friday morning on The Green.

Feb. 22 -- Chrysanthi Leon, UD assistant professor of sociology, “JUSTifying Scrutiny: Women in Prostitution and the Neoliberal State.”

Feb. 29 -- April Pelt, UD doctoral candidate, "Staging Zora Neale Hurston."

March 7 -- Carla Guerron Montero, UD associate professor of anthropology, "Applying CEDAW Principles in Latin America: The Case of Indigenous Peoples and Afro-Latin American Populations."

March 14 -- Yasser Payne, UD associate professor of Black American Studies, “The Lived Experiences of Black Students and Faculty at the University of Delaware.”

March 21 -- Joseph Kaifala of the Jeneba Project, which is committed to contributing to the reconstruction of the Mano River Union countries of Sierra Leone, Liberia, and Guinea through targeted educational projects, "The Jeneba Project."
