New SharePoint 2010 service

SharePoint 2007 service being disabled on Jan. 31, 2012

2:58 p.m., Dec. 14, 2011--Information Technologies at the University of Delaware has upgraded the University’s SharePoint service to a new version -- SharePoint 2010.

Microsoft SharePoint is a web-based application that allows working groups to collaborate online using any supported web browser.

2FA protects you

If you are using two-factor authentication (2FA), even if a hacker has your password, your information is probably safe.

The existing UD SharePoint 2007 server will be taken down on Jan. 31, 2012. IT staff members are contacting everyone who owns a SharePoint 2007 site with more information.

Site owners will be asked to authorize one of three actions:

  • Deleting SharePoint 2007 sites no longer in use.
  • Archiving SharePoint 2007 sites no longer in use.
  • Moving active SharePoint 2007 sites to SharePoint 2010.

If you own a UD SharePoint 2007 site and have not heard from an IT staff member by Jan. 6, 2012, contact the IT Support Center.
