Academic Units and University-wide Offices
There are seven colleges in the
University that administer academic degree programs. Six of the seven
colleges (Agriculture and Natural Resources; Arts and Sciences; Business
and Economics; Engineering; Health Sciences; Human Services,
Education and Public Policy; and Marine and Earth Studies) offer both undergraduate and graduate degrees.
Colleges are organized by schools,
departments, institutes and centers.
The Delaware
Biotechnology Institute is a multidisciplinary, state
of the art center engaged in research, education and economic development.
The Institute, which is a unit of the University of Delaware, represents
a partnership among the State's academic institutions, the State of Delaware,
and representatives of the private sector.
The University
Library includes the Hugh M. Morris Library and four
branch libraries. The library collections parallel the University’s
academic interests and support all disciplines.
The Office
of Undergraduate Studies integrates University-wide
undergraduate programs and enhances programs, curricula and resources
associated with the major components of the Delaware undergraduate signature
experience. It is composed of the following units: Honors
Program, University Advisement
Center, Center for Teaching Effectiveness,
the Undergraduate Research Program,
the Ronald E. McNair Post
Baccalaureate Achievement Program, and the Freshman Year Experience
which is part of the general education initiative.
The Office
of Graduate Studies coordinates the admission and policy
administration for all graduate students at the University. The Foreign
Students and Scholars Services office is part of the Office of Graduate
Studies and provides assistance to all international visitors and students
to the University.
The Center
for International Studies promotes study abroad programs
and interdisciplinary international research and curriculum development,
serving as an advocate for international activities, events, and awareness
at the University.
The Division
of Professional and Continuing Studies extends the University’s
academic resources throughout the state and beyond through credit
courses, certificate
programs, non-degree
short courses, public lectures, distance
learning, academy
of lifelong learning, program development, and conferences.
The Office
of Undergraduate Admissions coordinates the recruitment
and admission of undergraduate students at the University. Additionally,
it provides assistance to the students through the Office of the Registrar,
Office of Financial Aid and Academic Services Center.
The Division
of Student Life through the efforts of its various departments
including Residence Life, Career
Services, Counseling and
Student Development, University
and Student Centers, Students Health
Services, Student Services for
Athletes, and Campus Life
Office provides a broad range of programs, activities, facilities,
and services to enhance the campus environment.
The Office
of Information Technologies which includes Users
Services; Media Services; Network
and Systems Services; System
Security , Access and Help Services; and Management
Information Services provides computing services and support to faculty,
staff and students at the University.
The Office
of Women's Affairs advocates for women and promotes
awareness and understanding of issues that impact directly on women faculty,
staff, and students.
The Office
of the ADA (Disability Services) is the designated office
that determines eligibility for services, determines reasonable accommodation
and develops plans for the provision of such accommodation for students,
faculty and staff with a disability.
