Delaware tennis teams fall 5-2, 7-0 to Stetson

8:23 a.m., March 29, 2007--Stetson University won 15 of 18 matches afternoon on its way to a sweep of the University of Delaware tennis teams on Wednesday afternoon in the final match of the Fightin' Blue Hens' annual spring trip to Florida

The Stetson men's defeated UD 5-2, while the women's team defeated the Hens 7-0.

Picking up singles victories for the UD men's team were two freshmen, Sam Barrer and Camilo Perez. Barrer defeated Danai Stamp 6-4, 6-0 at No. 4 singles and Perez defeated Bret Feldman 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6 singles. Both Barrer and Perez have won three straight matches.

Barrer and Perez also picked up the lone doubles victory for the Hens as the duo teamed up to defeat Peter Dzuba and Feldman 8-5 at No. 3 doubles. They are 3-0 in doubles on the season.

The UD men's team will return to action with a match at Lafayette College at 3 p.m., Tuesday, April 3.

The UD women's team will serve as host to the Colonial Athletic Association Women's Weekend, with matches scheduled Friday through Sunday, March 30-April 1. On Friday, the Hens will face the University of North Carolina Wilmington at noon and Towson University will face UNC Wilmington at 3 p.m.

On Saturday, James Madison University will face UNC Wilmington at 10 a.m. and then will face Towson at 3 p.m. On Sunday, UD will face James Madison at 9 a.m.
