UD tennis teams score victories over Florida Tech

UD’s Alexa Dragonette earned her 13th victory of the season.

8:44 a.m., March 26, 2007--The University of Delaware tennis teams each picked up victories over the host Florida Institute of Technology on Friday afternoon, as the women's team won 7-2 and the men's team won 6-3.

Elena Barry, Liz Perlow, Alexa Dragonette, Brittany Barsky, and Laura Honig all won singles matches for the Fightin' Blue Hens, while Dragonette teamed with Julie Schiller and Perlow with Barsky for doubles wins.

Perlow, a senior, earned her 49th career victory and moved into a tie for seventh all-time at UD. Dragonette won her 13th singles match of the season, tied for the team lead with Susan Pollack, who is out for the remainer of the season with an ankle injury.

Claiming singles wins for the UD men's team were Matt Leibman, Sam Barrer, Jon Schwartz and Camilo Perez. Barrer gained his eighth singles win of the season, the most on the Delaware squad.

In doubles action, UD picked up wins by Jason Hanschmann and Nolan Greenberg and Barrer and Perez.

Both UD teams will be back in action Tuesday, March 27, when they take on Bethune-Cookman College at 1 p.m.
