Blue Hen softball team loses one, ties one

UD freshman Cecile Egan had three hits and scored both runs in a 2-2 tie with Lehigh.

8:20 a.m., March 23, 2007--The University of Delaware softball team lost the opening game of a doubleheader 4-3 to Lehigh University on Thursday at Delaware Field and tied 2-2 in the second game, which was called after six innings because of darkness.

The Fightin' Blue Hens are now 4-10-1. They will return to action with a Colonial Athletic Association weekend series at Drexel University. The teams will play a doubleheader beginning at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 24, and a single game at 11 a.m., Sunday, March 25.

In the second game, UD freshman starter Samantha Shawn gave up just two runs on six hits in the tie. Freshman outfielder Cecile Egan had three hits and scored both runs, and sophomore shortstop Kim Ovittore had two hits and drove in both runs.
