Delaware volleyball adds Pennsylvania recruit

8:17 a.m., March 21, 2007--Greta Gibboney of Huntingdon (Pa.) Area High School has signed an NCAA National Letter of Intent to compete for the University of Delaware volleyball team beginning this fall, UD Head Coach Bonnie Kenny has announced.

Gibboney, a 5-foot, 9-inch setter and libero, was named first team All-Mountain Athletic Conference and first team all-district in each of the last three seasons and second team all-state in 2004. A team captain in each of the last two seasons, Gibboney was named to the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association Fab 50 in 2005 and 2006. She also played on her high school basketball team and is an honor roll student.

"Greta is a very competitive and hard-working athlete," Kenny said. "She brings a tremendous amount of energy with her and is the type of player that is willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done. She is a terrific addition to our 2007 class and our program."

Gibboney joins Jessica Chason of Concord, N.C., Katie Dennehy of Charlotte, N.C., Paige Erickson of Tulsa, Okla., and Heather Lively of Northfield, Mass., in the freshman class.
