McLister, Hens finish fifth at Williamsburg

5:41 p.m., March 27, 2007--University of Delaware senior Joe McLister shot a one over par 143 to lead the Fightin' Blue Hens golf team to a fifth place finish at the College of William and Mary Invitational held Monday and Tuesday at the Kingsmill Resort in Williamsburg, Va.

The Hens shot a combined 592 to finish fifth in the 21-team field. Campbell University won the invitational with a team score of 575, followed by St. John's University at 578, the University of Detroit Mercy at 589, Towson University at 591, and Delaware.

McLister shot a two under par 69 on Monday and followed with a 74 on Tuesday to finish tied for fifth in the individual competition. The fifth place finish was the best of the year for McLister, and the 69 he shot on Monday was his second lowest round of the season.

UD sophomore Jeff Griest shot 150 and tied for 28th, sophomore Tommy Ellison shot 151 and tied for 33rd, and senior Josh Williamosky and freshman Jason Bernstein both shot 152 and finished tied for 46th place.

The Hens will return to action Monday and Tuesday, April 2-3, when they compete in the Bradford Creek East Carolina Invitational at the East Carolina Golf Course in Greenville, N.C.
