Blue Hen golfers finish fourth in GW Invitational

UD’s Joe McLister shot a two-day total of 145 to finish seventh in the George Washington Invitational.

8:23 a.m., March 26, 2007--Four University of Delaware golfers shot 77 or better on Sunday afternoon as the Fightin' Blue Hens combined for a team score of 297 and finished tied for fourth on the final day of the George Washington Invitational held at Bear Trap Dunes Golf Club in Bethany Beach.

The University of Pennsylvania topped the 24-team field with a two-day, 36-hole team score of 585. The Quakers were followed by runner-up Longwood University at 588, third place Seton Hall University at 591, and UD and Yale University tied for fourth at 597.

Joe McLister was UD's top finisher as he shot 73 on Saturday and 72 on Sunday for a 36-hole total of 145 to finish seventh. Tommy Ellison shot 149 to finish 17th, Jeff Griest shot 151 to finish 28th, Josh Williamosky shot 157 to finish 59th, and Jason Bernstein shot 160 to finish 77th.

Seton Hall's Kyle Morris was the medalist as he recorded scores of 68 and 73 to finish with a three-under par 141, one stroke better than runner-up Mark Matza of Yale and two strokes better than Michael Blodgett of Pennsylvania.

The Hens will continue action Monday and Tuesday, March 26-27, when they travel to the College of William and Mary Invitational at River Course Golf Club in Williamsburg, Va.
