Blue Hen baseball team drops game to UMBC

UD’s Bryan Hagerich had three hits, including a home run, in the loss to UMBC.

7:57 a.m., March 14, 2007--The University of Delaware baseball team fell 9-8 to the University of Maryland Baltimore County in a game played Tuesday afternoon at Bob Hannah Stadium.

The Fightin' Blue Hens are now 1-9 to open the season. They will return to action at 3 p.m., Wednesday, March 14, with a home game against Wilmington College.

UD jumped out to an 8-6 lead after seven innings but gave up three in the eighth and were unable to rally.

UD left fielder Bryan Hagerich had three hits, including a home run and a triple, and drove in four runs. Second baseman Alex Buchholz had three hits, a home run and a double, and drove in a pair of runs. Relief pitcher David Slovak took the loss.
