UD volleyball team defeats LaSalle 3-1

11:16 a.m., Nov. 3, 2004--The University of Delaware volleyball team earned its 20th victory of the season on Tuesday by defeating host LaSalle University 3-1. It is the first time the Fightin’ Blue Hens have won 20 games since the 1997 season.

UD defeated La Salle 31-29, 27-30, 30-23, 30-21 to improve to 20-6 on the season. The Hens are 7-3 in the Colonial Athletic Association and will return home to face James Madison University at 7 p.m., Friday, Nov. 5, on Barbara Viera Court in the Carpenter Sports Building.

In Tuesday’s victory, the Hens were led by Valerie Murphy, who had 19 kills, six blocks and one assist. Colleen Walsh, the CAA Rookie of the Week, had 15 kills and three blocks, Megan Welch had 31 assists, Allison Lutz had 19 assists, Taylor Govaars had 28 digs and Claire McCormack had 11 digs.
