Cross country teams compete at Lehigh 3:35 p.m., Oct. 3, 2005--The University of Delaware cross country teams competed in the Paul Short Invitational meet on Saturday at Lehigh University, with the men finishing 26th out of 44 teams and the women finishing 34th out of 47 teams. Junior P.J. Meany and sophomore Colleen OBrien each led their respective Blue Hens teams once again Saturday as the University of Delaware mens and womens cross country squads competed at the Paul Short Invitational at Lehigh University. UD sophomore Colleen OBrien finished 16th individually in the womens race and junior P.J. Meany finished 44th in the mens race. Georgetown captured the mens title with 123 points, followed by LaSalle (154), Princeton (170), Auburn (218) and Columbia (234) in the top five. Columbia was the womens team winner with 121 points, followed by Georgetown (138), Tennessee (185), Maryland (226), and Cornell (230). OBrien covered the course in 21:05.3, 37 seconds behind winner Elizabeth Maloy of Georgetown (20:28.0). Also for the Hens, Julia Somers finished 96th, Jessica Leitsch 228th, Renee Gresh 251st, Leslie Wason 267th, Liz Paul 273rd and Allison Behrle 283rd. Meany ran a time of 24:45.0, 52 seconds behind individual champion Ryan Sheehan of St. Francis (23:53.0). Also for the Hens, Sam Mackenzie finished 152nd, Kyle Schmid 165th, Kevin Duprey 166th, Tyler Mayforth 194th, Mike Ward 206th and Brad Dodson 218th.
