UD women’s tennis defeats St. Joseph’s

9:59 a.m., Sept. 22, 2005--The University of Delaware women’s tennis team won its first dual meet of the fall season by shutting out host St. Joseph’s University 7-0 on Wednesday afternoon in Philadelphia.

UD sophomore Susan Pollack shut out Nicole Morrison 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, and freshman Amanda Campbell defeated Erika Guers 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2 singles.

Junior Liz Perlow won at No. 3 singles, junior Sari Shuster at No. 4, junior Brittany Barsky at No. 5 and freshman Katie Iannelli at No. 6.

In doubles play, Pollack and Campbell won at No. 1 doubles, and Shuster teamed with sophomore Alexa Dragonette to win at No. 2. Perlow and Barsky completed the shutout by winning at No. 3.

UD will return to action with a match at Villanova University at 1 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 25.
