10:28 a.m., Oct. 19, 2005--The University of Delaware women’s soccer team is ranked No. 12 in the Mid-Atlantic region in the new Soccer Buzz magazine poll.

The Fightin’ Blue Hens, who are 7-5-2 overall and 4-3 in the Colonial Athletic Association, entered the regional rankings last week at No. 14.

UD is one of five CAA teams in the regional top 15, with Virginia Commonwealth University No. 6, Old Dominion University No. 7, James Madison University No. 9 and the College of William & Mary No. 11.

Unbeaten Penn State continues atop both the regional and the national polls.

The Fightin’ Blue Hens will play two conference matches on the road this weekend, traveling to George Mason University for a game at 7 p.m., Friday, and to Towson University for a game at 1 p.m., Sunday.

Shelby Lawrence has scored three goals for the Hens this season, and Caitlyn Germain, Alli D’Amico, Shannon Alger and Kendall Lytwynec have scored two goals each. Goalkeeper Lindsey Shover has 60 saves.
