Hen women’s lacrosse falls in CAA tourney

1:44 p.m., May 2, 2005--The University of Delaware women’s lacrosse team fell 9-4 to top-seeded Hofstra University in the Colonial Athletic Association semifinals played on Saturday at James M. Shuart Stadium in Hempstead, N.Y.

The Fightin’ Blue Hens trailed just 4-2 at the half and pulled to within one goal when freshman attack Casey McCrudden opened the scoring in the second half off an assist by senior Erin Edell.

Hofstra then went on a five-goal run, with Tara Buecker scoring four, to put the game out of reach.

McCrudden had two goals, and Edell and Katie Hogan also scored for the Hens. UD goalkeeper Patrice Hughes had eight saves in the game.

In the CAA title game on Sunday, Towson University defeated Hofstra 18-15.
