UD women’s lacrosse defeats Temple 14-7

3:41 p.m., April 21, 2005--The University of Delaware women’s lacrosse team won its third straight game with a 14-7 victory over Temple University, which until last year was led by new Fightin’ Blue Hens Head Coach Kim Ciarrocca, on Wednesday night at Rullo Stadium.

UD, which improved to 8-5, will next face Princeton University at 7 p.m., Tuesday, April 26, also at Rullo Stadium. Princeton is 10-2 and is ranked No. 3 in NCAA Division I by the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association. The Hens are ranked No. 17.

In the victory over Temple, UD took an 8-6 lead into halftime and then outscored the Owls 6-1 in the second half, limiting them to just seven shots with outstanding defensive play.

Senior midfielder Becky Rausa led the Hens with three goals. Sophomore midfielders Katie Muth and Laura Miller and freshman attack Casey McCrudden each scored two goals.

UD goalkeeper Patrice Hughes had 12 saves.
