NLL’s Philadelphia Wings draft former Blue Hen

9:52 a.m., Aug. 31, 2005--Former University of Delaware men’s lacrosse player Luke Wiles, who played two seasons for the Fightin’ Blue Hens in 2003 and 2004, was selected by the Philadelphia Wings in the National Lacrosse League draft.

Wiles was the second selection of the Wings and the fourth player taken overall in the draft. Philadelphia, which had three first-round picks, also selected forward Sean Greenhalgh from Cornell University and defenseman Chad Thompson of the Barrie Lakeshores in the Ontario Lacrosse Association.

“With three first-round selections in a draft so deep with talent, I’ve been looking forward to this day all summer,” Wings General Manager Lindsay Sanderson said. “Both Greenhalgh and Wiles are proven players and Thompson really came into his own this summer in Barrie. We’ve been able to significantly strengthen our team today.”
