UD volleyball team wins third straight match

2:23 p.m., Oct. 12, 2005--Led by freshman Kelly Gibson, the University of Delaware volleyball team won its third straight match, defeating LaSalle University 3-0 on Tuesday at Barbara Viera Court in the Carpenter Sports Building.

The Fightin’ Blue Hens won 30-23, 30-18 and 30-27 to win the match and improve to 8-13 on the season.

Gibson had 15 kills and 17 digs, and junior Heather Ranck had 26 digs. Claire McCormack had eight digs, seniors Niecy Taylor and Megan McGrath had four blocks each and sophomore Allison Lutz had 36 assists and seven digs.

The Hens will return to action with a pair of CAA matches on the road, playing at the University of North Carolina Wilmington at 7 p.m., Friday, Oct. 14, and at Georgia State University in Atlanta at 7 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 16. UD is 4-5 in the conference.
