Bennett 20th, Yost 26th in NCAA regional meet

11:19 a.m., May 31, 2005--University of Delaware senior Casey Bennett finished 20th in the women's pole vault, and senior Mike Yost finished 26th in the men's discus at the NCAA Division I outdoor track and field regional meet on Friday afternoon at Manhattan College's Icahn Stadium.

Bennett, who qualified for the regional after winning the Colonial Athletic Association championship, failed on three attempts at the minimum height and was eliminated from the competition. Yost, the CAA discus champion, had a best throw of 145 feet, 8 inches.

Bennett won 18 pole vault titles during her career and set the school indoor and outdoor records. She earned All-East honors earlier this season by placing seventh at the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) championships. She finished ninth in the 2004 NCAA regional meet.

Yost won eight titles this spring in the hammer and discus and finished 15th in the hammer and 19th in the discus at the Intercollegiate Association of Amateur Athletes in America (IC4A) championships.
