UD track competitors establish three records

2:30 p.m., March 7, 2005--University of Delaware indoor track and field athletes established three school records Saturday in competition at regional championships. The Eastern College Athletic Conference championships for women were held at the Reggie Lewis Sports Complex, while the Intercollegiate Association of Amateur Athletes in America (IC4A) championships for men were held at Boston University.

The UD men set two school records as the 4 x 400 meter relay team of Chris Dixon, Pat Henry, Phil Smiley and Charlie Williams finished 13th overall with a time of 3:17.04 and the distance medley relay team of Dave Sherman, Charlie Dielmann, Mike Zeberkiewicz and Brad Dodson finished 10th in a time of 10:03.62.

The 4 x 400 meter relay team broke the mark of 3:18.4 set by Joe Deluca, Lloyd Mears, John Flickinger and Ed Mongan in 1973. The distance medley relay team broke the school record of 10:05.35 set by Troy Bockius, Brian Demlein, Joe Quigley and Mike DiGennaro in 2000.

Also for the UD men, Rashaad Woodard finished 32nd in the 55 meters with a time of 6.67.

In women’s competition, UD’s Brittany Wright broke her own school record in the 60 meters with a time of 7.73 in the semifinals to finish 10th overall.

UD freshman Colleen O'Brien finished 15th in the mile run with a time of 4:59.33.
