UD tennis teams blank Mount St. Mary’s

3:27 p.m., Oct. 3, 2005--The University of Delaware tennis teams remained undefeated by shutting out Mount St. Mary’s College on Sunday afternoon at the Delaware Tennis Courts.

The Fightin’ Blue Hen men’s team improved to 2-0 while the women’s team improved to 3-0 on the fall season.

For the UD men, senior Jesse Carl defeated Bobby Cozzillio 6-2, 6-4 at No. 1 singles, junior Adam Liebman topped Favio Osorio at No. 2 and senior Josh Ditman defeated Jeff Lamberton at No. 3.

Sophomore Jason Hanschmann defeated Derek Taylor at No. 4, freshman Nolan Greenberg defeated Paul Stuart at No. 5 and sophomore Jonathan Schwartz defeated Sam Walton at No. 6.

Carl and Hanschmann won at No. 1 doubles and Ditman and Levine won at No. 2 for the Hens. Greenberg and senior Philip Wayne also won at No. 6.

Sophomore Susan Pollack defeated Jen Iosue 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles for the UD women, while freshman Amanda Campbell defeated Katie Muething at No. 2.

Junior Liz Perlow defeated Kaitlin Hallahan at No. 3, junior Sari Shuster defeated Whitney Edmonds at No. 4, sophomore Brittany Barsky defeated Ashley Wentzel at No. 5 and freshman Katie Iannelli defeated Christine Pace at No. 6.

Pollack and Campbell won at No. 1 doubles, while Shuster and Barsky won at No. 2. Sophomore Alexa Dragonette and sophomore Julie Schiller captured No. 3 doubles.

Both Hen teams will return to action with matches against Temple University at 11 a.m., Sunday, Oct. 9, at the UD tennis courts.
