Delaware tennis teams falls to James Madison

10:49 a.m., April 18, 2005--James Madison University defeated the University of Delaware in men's and women's tennis matches played Sunday afternoon at the Delaware Field House courts.

The matches were the last before the Colonial Athletic Association championships, which will be played April 21-23 at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Va.

For the UD men, singles victories were earned by Jonathan Schwartz at No. 5 and Phil Wayne at No. 6, and doubles victories were earned by Jesse Carl and Jason Hanschmann at No. 2 and by Wayne and Sammy Carl at No. 3.

Jesse Carl and Hanschmann improved to 16-2 with their fifth straight doubles victory, and Sammy Carl and Wayne improved to 16-4. Sixteen victories is second only to the school record of 18 set by Jeff Dumansky and Jeff Olmstead, who went 18-3 in 1973-74.

For the UD women, Alexa Dragonette won at No. 3 and teamed with Marissa Singer to win at No. 3 doubles.
